A new report from Bloomberg offers a look at the team of people that Amazon employs to listen to and monitor Alexa voice recordings. The report explains that Amazon employs “thousands of people around the world” to listen to voice recordings captured through its Echo devices.

Latest data from Gartner and IDC shows the Mac gaining marketshare despite drop in sales

Both Gartner and IDC have released their respective data on the worldwide PC market for the first quarter of 2019. Both research firms note a decline year-over-year in shipments, though one is more dramatic than the other.

Apple Podcasts now supports web playback, episode pages, more

[Update: As first noted by Mac Generation, Apple has also recently overhauled the Movies and TV show web interfaces with designs similar to the new Podcasts interface.]

Apple this week has overhauled the web interface for Apple Podcasts. The new design is much cleaner and easier to navigate, while also offering support for playback, individual episode details, and more.

NAB Show 2019: Mobile video editing workflows improve w/ big LumaFusion, Filmic Pro, and Gnarbox updates

At this year’s NAB Show in Las Vegas, mobile video editing gained even more cohesiveness and traction. In previous years I felt like there was a push to legitimize mobile video editing, but this year it’s not even a question as to whether such workflows make sense for many iPad users.

The central hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center featured the likes of LumaFusion, Filmic Pro, and Gnarbox  — companies that are all heavily involved with mobile video editing workflows. Apple spending at least $485 million on Texture for News+, report says

Following the launch of Apple News+, Apple confirmed last month that it would shut down Texture at the end of May. Apple originally acquired Texture in March of 2018, using it as the basis for what would become Apple News+.

Now, a new report from the New York Post offers more information on the details of Apple’s Texture acquisition.

T-Mobile enters television market in eight cities with pricey TVision Home, promising ‘BS-free TV’

T-Mobile has today announced its TV plans with the arrival of TVision Home. The new service is the carrier’s attempt to take on traditional cable providers and will be launching in eight cities next week. T-Mobile is touting TVision Home as “BS-free” with “no hidden fees, no bill creep or exploding offers, no annual service contracts and no crappy customer service.” However, the service comes with a high price that may not be too different from average cable bills.
